There’s something curious about the late 80’s Chili’s Menu cover. But I digress. Lots of Jeff Lynne haters were abundant back then- suggesting that his production stamp was all over this thing- sapping it’s soul from the gate. Google some original reviews for the skinny. However it’s 2008 now – and 20 years later- this collection of songs indeed stand the test of time- It rolled out before No Depression unconsciously branded the “Alt. Country” movement- which spawned all sorts of label Cosmic American Music marketing plans, executive titles, radio charts, and formats: when in doubt- alt. country out. Either way this is not an Op-Ed post- it’s just a reminder of a great song that I miss hearing on the radio. 20 years later- it sounds as good as new. That’s true soul.
