Wings: “Band on The Run” They call it classic rock for reason – recordings that stand the test of time.  “Band on The Run” is one of those tracks – a sweeping rock epic – with chord progressions, string arrangements, and lyrics fit for a king. ‘The rain exploded with a mighty crash, as we fell into the sun.’  Storming melodies don’t get much better than this.  True soul.

  2. Thanks. Listening to this reminds me of Paul’s genius. Who else writes 2 songs as an intro to the listed track. It makes me think of the changes in the world between the early 70’s and when the McCartney style was echoed in Beck’s music. By the time Beck comes along, the innocence of the 50’s and times previous is gone. Beck summons the spectre of the post-apocalypse. Thanks again for taking me away.
