HappyParts has never been shy about his love for ephemera from our culture’s past. Whether it’s pin-ups, pulp, flyers, posters or classic LP’s – it’s all gravy for me. Just came across this local exhibit that features local and touring bands during a time of true cultural revolt: Punk Passage San Francisco First Wave Punk 1977-1981 – the exhibit “features 45 black and white portraits and live music photographs of original punk innovators by the San Francisco-based photographer Ruby Ray. Working for the seminal punk magazine, Search and Destroy, Ray began chronicling the City’s punk scene in 1977.” Also in included on the 6th Floor: Original punk rock ‘zines, flyers and posters from 1977 to 1981, + articles and ephemera.” Truth and inspiration awaits Sept. 12 through Dec. 6 at San Francisco Main Library. Have at it.
