Classic Track Of Day – Heatmiser

1996 was a good year.Β  Brendan Benson’s debut came out- and so did another record “Mic City Sons” by a Portland group named Heatmiser. (VRA 1996) Fronted by a true soul – Elliot Smith – this album is a treasure- The feel, the soul, the grace- all there.Β  Of course we know Elliot Smith went on to great places as a solo artist, and became a poster-child for the indie jet set –Β  He helped clear a path for artists like Bright Eyes to let it her rip- just do what feels true.Β  Just like Kurt Cobain- Elliot shared some amazin’ tunes in his creative life- It’s enough that you are exposing your soul to the world- but the world always wants more, more, and more.Β  “Some folks can not be satisfied, they just want somebody to ride. ”Β  The lyrics were an ominous warning for the years ahead. Dig the sexy low-end of pre-solo, rock and roll group process.
