Classic Track of Day – Echo & The Bunnymen

After a long day on the meter,- Echo & The Bunnymen does the trick.  “The Killing Moon” – Something both majestic in lyric , and the steady tempo ascension,  that feels like a climb up a long spiral staircase to hell – fueled  by a psychedelic goth underbelly.  Released in 1984, “The Killing Moon” was recorded by David Lord – an eighties UK studio wizard who tracked some huge records- not sure how this one was sorted out.  There’s something anthemic,  Jim Morrison Vs. Scott Walker Vegas tussle in Ian McCulloch’s vocal performance, especially during the choral delivery- “Fate, Up against your will…” That pretty much sums up the noise in my head after a long day.
