Classic Track of Day – Led Zeppelin

1982 Swan Song 92444

1982 Swan Song 92444

Ozone Baby was an outtake from In Through the Out Door sessions.  HappyParts was so thrilled to be introduced to this tune during my salad days at indie retail- it’s as close to a power-pop song as Zeppelin gets.  What with the economy goin’ all to hell, the election, the biased news reports (depending on who owns the channel, and the baseball playoffs, and the blah, blah, blah – it’s just nice to get down to solid rock and roll tune.  This one has that classic John Bonham stomp that kills,  and John Paul Jones keeping that bass line tight.  As Robert Christgau wrote – from his original consumer guide review back in 82.  “Jumo Riffs throughtout” –  Play at Maxium volume.
