Classic Track Of Day – Giorgio Moroder

Long story short – Giorgio Moroder’s 1972 LP “Son Of My Father”  spawned entire genres – new wave, techno, synth-pop, dance floor Manchester sound – he was tweakin’ on synthesisers  around the same time Kraftwerk got busy.  Son of My Father is a lost treasure.  Giorgio went on to create the first mega-global disco hit Donna Summer’s – 17 minute “Love To Love You Baby” – between that tune, David Mancuso, Patrick Cowley and Sylvester- a global phenomenon was born. He then became King of the 80’s Hollywood film score. Truth be told HappyParts loves over produced pop with strings – see Bee Gees (who never planned on being disco stars- it happened by accident.)

The following tune is amazing to me- as it confirms his influence – listen to this tune and list the bands that come to mind that have built upon Giorgio’s obvious foundation – the beat, the sound, the feel- You’ll understand- Gospel choir and piano laced, dance floor beats. Dig the messed up synth breaks too.
