Classic Track(s) of Day – Kinks and Creation

Let’s face it music supervisors have a great job.  They get to dig through crates of records, and place amazin’ songs in soundtracks.  Most of these songs are well known known to indie shop lifers, or  the self-appointed music elite,  but for others (like HappyParts)  these songs become born-again.  Randall Poster and Wes Anderson’s music placements on the Rushmore soundtrack are quite expectational.  They truly captured the spirit of Max’s character.  Not since Harold and Maude,  have I enjoyed Cat Steven’s music in a film. The Creation’s 1966  single  “Making Time” / “Try and Stop Me” can be found on many 60’s compilations.  Another song on the soundtrack- The Kink’s Nothing in This World Can Stop Me Worryin Bout That Girl – can be found on Kinda Kinks from 1965.
