Classic Track of Day – UFO

1977 - Chrysalis - 1127

1977 - Chrysalis - 1127

At the same time  punk and glam rock was being churned up on either side of the pond – metal carried momentum into the mainstream.  Considering Black Sabbath’s debut was released 1970 – and Neil Young’s Cinnamon Girl arrived in 1977. UFO’s “Lights Out”  also reared it’s head in 1977. – Michael Schenker was a king of the arena rock riff.  Often cited as a major influence on the intellectual metal set – his guitar work paved the way for modern thrash, and speed metal.  HappyParts spent the day in Martinez, California.   So anyone with a Northern California culture-compass will know why UFO came to mind.  Contra Costa County – for the most part – is the county that stopped in time:  somewhere between 1976-1984.  I would not have it any other way.  Dig it.
