Classic Track of Day – ME 262

ME-262 by Blue Oyster Cult. This tune was selected by Impediments during their KALX guest DJ/interview visit. Tiger Lilly was an ace host by the way. The vibe reminded me of when I first heard Alice Cooper’s ‘Under My Wheels.’ At best, I remain teachable at all times. Tap in.

Gene Clark – Elevator Operator – I was out last night and heard this randy number spun over the P.A. System, and it made the scene. Thank you Pretty Goes Pretty for sorting me out with the Mp3. Tap in.

Classic Track of Day – Moby Grape

1967 Columbia

Moby Grape *’Omaha’ * found this track on a compilation in the Rasputin used bin tonight.  There’s still lots of plastic for sale if you go the stores. I was looking for a Harry Nilsson record and then I ran into this.  18 solid numbers from various artists for $5.95.   I will defer to Robert Christgau for the proper respect,  “Moby Grape was that good – a pop-smart whirl of blazing white R&B, country twang and psychedelic balladry.”   Tap in.

“Love is Blue” was a single released in 1968 prior to Truth album release.  The tune was an easy listening hit in the states for Paul Mauriat.   “Greensleeves” is a traditional English folk song found on Truth.  HappyParts has been keen on studio performance these days.  These two tracks are an awkward, yet shining tangential for captain blues rock.
